The Department of Buildings (DOB) recently introduced a new requirement for its online portal, DOB NOW, which allows users to manage applications for their building code and zoning projects. With the introduction of the new login system, users must link their accounts to NYC.ID, a new portal for all government services in NYC. An NYC.ID account will only be required for
DOB NOW: Build, Safety, BIS Options, and Licensing;
DOB NOW: Inspections and eFiling accounts will not be affected.This update is just a small piece of the expansive MyCity program, which aims to digitize and streamline the city’s legal landscape, providing New Yorkers online access to childcare, business, and career resources upon its launch in June. The program has attracted a fair amount of press in recent months due to its use of AI — the newly launched beta version of MyCity chatbot, which will help users navigate local laws, marks the city’s first official push to utilize artificial intelligence.
“New Yorkers deserve a better user experience when interacting with city government,” said New York City Chief Technology Officer and New York City Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) Commissioner Fraser in a press release. “MyCity raises the bar for the way New York City delivers services and benefits — creating a central hub to check eligibility in real-time, submit applications, see service status, and safely store documentation for future use.”

After June 3, this is how you will login to DOB NOW. Any existing filings associated with your email address will appear on your dashboard. Users without an NYC.ID account will not be able to access its services.
